Sketching House is a website dedicated to teaching, discussing, and blogging about art of all types. The two of us– Marisol and Alex–created this site to share drawing tips and techniques, review art products across many mediums, as well as sharing fun and easy tutorials that can help anyone draw from children to season veterans! More importantly, Alex, Tala,  and Marisol are here to be completely accessible to you, the reader; so feel free to contact them at any time with comments, questions, and suggestions! Furthermore, watch out for the feature page, which will feature letters and drawings from readers of the Sketching House blog!

Marisol
Hi! I’m Marisol! I’m 23 years old and a graduate student earning my Master’s degree in English Literature and Composition. When I’m finished with my Master’s, I’m hoping to obtain my Ph.D in English as a Second Language (ESL) studies, with a focus on Asian-American literature. I graduated in May 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in Literature.
In my spare time, I write fiction and non-fiction, draw, paint sculpt, create jewelry, etc.  I work as an English, history, chess, ESL, and K-6 tutor. I also a mentor for the College Mentors for Kids program via PUC. In addition to this, I am a freelance writer for Demand Media and Rentacoder.
I do a lot of art–traditional, digital,photography– you name it, I do it. I love art. I find it fun and relaxing, and I hope to show you how fun and soothing art really is! Visit my galleries at Altura-Tears or Pretty Lil Cheetah.

Hi people. I am Alex. I’m a graduate student, writer, sketch-artist, digital artist, and a whole bunch of other things. I used to write art tutorials for other websites, but I always had to write what they wanted. I got sick of it and Marisol and I decided to make this site. I’m a fan of anime, digital art, and traditional art. I like doing tutorials because most websites have the same tutorials done over and over again. I’ll have my own takes on traditional methods as well as fresh approaches that I’ve come up with. We’re all artists and we all want to get to the business of creating awesome art.
