Animal Rescues

It will not be often that Alex and I will post off topic subjects considering that Sketching House is an art site, but there’s something I want to share with you, our readers, so I hope you read.
Dog rescues do a lot of great work; I didn’t realize that until the past few weeks came and went. Three weeks ago, Alex and I found a stray Border Collie puppy at one of our local parks. This puppy, Micah as we have come to call him, hadn’t eaten in three days and he was all wet and matted. Furthermore, it has been very cold in our part of the United States, so imagine what this little guy has gone through! Still, little Micah, although frightened at first, was still in fantastic spirits and had an acquired taste for Paki, a Japanese cookie. Alex and I managed to bribe Micah to come to us and when he came to us, he was playful and happy. Alex and I wondered why a sweet dog like him was wandering around lost, so we took him to our local Petsmart because they were accepting stray and adoptable dogs. We gave Micah to a lady who was running a rescue, and we didn’t get the name of the shelter.
After we dropped Micah off, both Alex and I were upset over the fact that we left him. So the search began to find our wonderful pup. A week later, we found Micah and decided to adopt him so he would have a happy ending. Unfortunately, Micah couldn’t stay with us and he is now at the I Wanna Go Home Rescue in Sauk Village, Illinois waiting for a wonderful family with a yard and lots of love to give. I cried a lot over the loss of our baby boy, but I hope he finds the best home possible.
During and after our sad Micah adventure, I really got to thinking as to how wonderful dog rescues are and how underappreciated they are. Dog rescues are foster-style shelters that rehabilitate and take care of dogs so they are happy, well-adjusted, and adoptable—pets like my and Alex’s wonderful Micah. Unfortunately, many of these rescues fold because there is not enough funding given that the majority of rescues are non-profit organizations. Without donations, these rescues cannot stay alive, so if you have a few extra dollars, please help your local rescues! Without rescues, shelters will continue to be overpopulated which means many more animals will be euthanized. Save our puppies! Please, if you have any change to spare, please donate. Also, donate food, towels, dog dishes, shampoo, etc if possible!
Here are some of my rescues. If you can, please help:
Great Lakes Border Collie Rescue—Because my Micah was a Border Collie.
CPR Canine Rescue Fund: Child and Pet Relief—They place close to 1,000 dogs a year in safe and loving homes. Money goes to medical care.
Treasured Friends—A cat rescue. Much of the money goes to spaying and neutering.
The Bingo Fund—A fund for dogs that need immediate health care.
Thank you for helping!
