Exciting News!

Hello everyone! It’s been a while. Alex, Tala, and I apologize for lacking in the post department, but we’ve been really busy. As mentioned before, all three of us have returned to school, so the semester is getting in the way. Please have patience with us, though. Once things slow down, we will be back to posting on a regular basis.

Alex and I have also been busy working. We both took up extra jobs because we finally got our apartment. WOOHOO! The only problem is that the landlord wants $1,400 up front–OUCH! So Alex and I have been working like crazy in hopes of reaching that goal by the third week of February. Cross your fingers!

I also have great news! While I was work today, I met a fantastic student who introduced me to an artist I never heard of. Why is this great news? This particular student had me check a paper of his that had to do with art analysis. Houen (sweetie, I hope I spelled your name right) wrote a paper about Luo Zhongli’s oil painting, “Father.” When Houen brought his paper in, I was astonished at his analysis and the feelings he had toward Luo’s painting. He also gave me some background on Luo’s career and what he’s doing now. I must say, Houen’s essay made me very interested in Luo’s art and I was so excited about this student’s paper that I’ve invited him to be a guest blogger here at Sketching House! Whenever Houen’s ready, he will be joining our little community. I’m so excited!

Before my wonderful student shares his essay, I decided to share with you some of Luo Zhongli’s oil paintings. When Houen showed me Luo’s “Father” piece, I was astonished! I’ve never seen a painting look so real! The wrinkles on his face and the folds in his clothing–WOW! When I saw this, I thought it was a photograph! Take a look yourself:

Luo Zhonglis Father.

Luo Zhongli's "Father."

This was the only image I’ve found of Luo’s work, so I guess a lot of his paintings are not available online. I’m very sad about that because his work is amazing. The realism! GORGEOUS and MOVING! If anyone can find any other information about this artist, please share it. Email us at sketchinghouseonline@gmail.com!

Until Later,

Marisol
