How to draw a Final Fantasy-esque character
Mar 26
2010
Whoo,it’s almost 3 am and I should be in bed by now, long long ago. Anyhoo, I’m not dead! School, work, and life have gotten a death grip on me, but I found some time to do a tutorial that I think is well worth it. ^-^ I’ve seen a lot of potential in people who say they can’t draw, but with some practice, their works can grow ten fold! ^_^ Anyhow, with the release of Final Fantasy 13, I’ve had the urge to actually draw some of my characters in that awesome style. I’m going to do tutorials on the style that’s usually common with most Final Fantasy concept art.
With this tutorial, you will be able to poduc drawings that mimic the style of many game characters. I will be doing this in a few parts. First part is the outline, which is this part. Lets begin! Click to read more …

We’re Not Dead
Jan 31
2010
Hello everyone. Whew, it’s good to be back.
So Tala, Alex, and I have been super busy with school and work (bummer, real life is getting in the way!). I’ve been trying to juggle a few jobs, and it’s been hard because one requires my undivided attention all the time. But, I think it’s getting better.
Trust me, we’re working really hard at trying to juggle everything. Once tax season is over though, we should be okay. *Nod*
With that said, I’ve worked on a few new drawings that have minor coloring tutorials, so I hope to get those posted within the next few days. Here are the images: Click to read more …

Best Tools and Techniques for Shading
Aug 25
2009
So you sorta have an idea of where the shading is supposed to go. But you’re wondering, what are the best ways to get the shading on to my character. Luckily there’s a ton of ways to shade a character and you can try out all of them until you find a method that’s right for you!
The technique you use is partially based off your tools of the trade. Thus, this guide is going to be categorized based on what tool you are planning on using. The only tool I haven’t used for shading is pen. Based on the guide found here, shading is done similar to with a pen, though you can’t really smudge pen or use some of the other neat techniques that you can use with pencils.
Hello! I’m back for yet another shading tutorial! I know, I didn’t get around to the last character’s clothing shading. Her clothes will get shaded soon, but I first need to figure out what texture her clothes are going to have and how the light source will interact with her clothes. So this face shading tutorial is going to be thrown right in for no reason other than that it will hopefully be helpful to those who are trying to figure out the intricate (or in some cases, very simple) art of shading.
Last night, I was looking at Marisol and the light source completely struck the side of her face. The majority of her face was completely shaded, but there was a highlight on the right side of her face. The lighting effects look so cool when the light interacts with the nose, cheeks and eyes. I tried to take a mental snapshot so that I could cover that type of lighting. We both looked at each other’s faces and it was really need to see all the subtle features that you normally don’t notice when you look at someone at a distance. For instance, you kinda forget that your skin, when you look at it really close, is made up of criss-crossing lines.
Also, I decided to try a lineless piece of art. This is the second time I’ve tried a lineless piece of art and it was really fun, though sorta time-consuming. The good news is that the more you draw, the faster you get at drawing and the less time it takes. I remember the last very realistic drawing took all day. Of course, it had a bunch of colors mixed in for the skin tone and I’m probably not going to get to that until some other day.
How to Draw Arms — Endomorphs
Jun 21
2009
Though not set in stone, the body classification system puts the human body in three categories: endomorph, mesomorph and ectomorph. If you want to master diversity early on when learning how to draw, practice drawing these body types equally. These characters have bodies that tend to be round, with often a slow metabolism and a large body fat ratio. However, the body mass of the character is the same as any other type, being dependant on calorie intake. These characters can have a very round appearance while having a relatively thin body. Given the fact that fat settles on different parts of the body for different characters, this can be a difficult body type to learn how to draw.
The traits common of endomorphs are:
- Round body
- Larger gut
- Smaller hands
However, many famous individuals have had endomorphic body types, such as Marilyn Monroe.
Disney World
Apr 21
2009
I’m going to step away from the art tutorials briefly and step into a wishful thinking mode. It’s been five years since I visited Disney World, and frankly, I’m suffering from extreme withdrawal. Given the countless “unofficial guides” I’ve read and the numerous times I’ve visited “the World,” I consider myself to be bit of a Disney expert, so to speak. As we all know, summer is upon us, which means vacation season. Even in this economy, Disney World, although pricey at times, has a lot of bang for your buck, especially with many of its attractions. So, if your planning a vacation to Disney World this summer, I suggest you read this guide I’ve compiled. Click to read more …

Poetry from the Soul
Mar 22
2009
Hello everyone! How are you all today? I’m in an allergy-induced cloud right now and it sucks. Certain ways I move, it feels like my head is about to explode! C’est la vie! I don’t like it one bit.
I was searching through my Sheezy Art page recently and I came across a lot of my old poetry I wrote. Wow, I used to have a lot of darkness burning within me. Much of poetry was depressing! It’s funny, because generally, I’m not a depressed person anymore. So why the difference? My first two years of college I was dealing with a stalker ex-boyfriend who was rather abusive when I dated him. I made a lot of mistakes with this man that I am now smart enough to avoid, but I have a lot of regrets because of things I did to save myself from his fist. I had a lot of angst and depression because of all of it, but, because of it, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. A lot of my humor stems from my tragedies I faced in life, as well as all the craziness that ensues around me. It just amazes me where people’s strength comes from and I’m proud of everyone who can muster strength to surive anything.
As I mentioned in previous posts, writing helped me get through a lot of stress and darkness. Like the aforementioned, a lot of my writing had a darkened tone to it, but I did have some humorous poetry and stories mixed in. So, today, I would like to share with you some of my writing from the past. Here goes!
Love Always,
Mari

MIA, but with new surprises!
Mar 16
2009
Tala here with news about things going on in this side of the world. I’ve been working long boring and hard hours to try and make ends meet, but it’s getting extremely hard to do just that I’ve found. I’m barely making the payments for school, and unfortunately, I think this month’s payment I may be short some money. You see, my job screwed me over in my hours, so therefore they didn’t give me as much as I’d hope, so I might be squeezing my wallet a bit here. I cannot wait till I get a better job doing what I love to do, draw, illustrate, make designs and people happy.
Lately, I’ve been very overworked, with school (even though I love it) and work and now, my mom bought me a car which, I have to pay the whole thing back. You see, no one asked me if I wanted it, they just picked one and said “Here, this is yours, it’s $1500 and with all the other things you’ll need it will come close to $2000! Yes, because I can totally afford that right now right?! Not only that, my doggy had to get his rabies shot, check for heartworms, his distemper and product for his ears. That’s $100 I’ve got to fork up as well now. BAH, well, he’s my responsibility, but I just wish I could get a helping hand from my parents.
Since that doesn’t seem to be working, I’m going to try and gather up commisions for artwork and the like, try and get my name out there and do something with my talents. Oh! But on to the new surprises! I thought about doing a fun little web comic, though this will have some more story line and be more like an actual manga. I’ve already been working on all the details, with a few previews too! Don’t ask why or how, but much of the idea was taken from my own expieriences playing World of Warcraft. XD I’m such a nerd!
